Doctrine of Peace

VOLUME ONE - CHAPTER 16

In every province, and in every city, whither so ever the king's commandment and his decree comes, you shall have joy and gladness, a feast and a good day. You love righteousness therefore God anoints you with the oil of gladness. His chosen, you shall have light, and gladness, and joy, and honor, being made to hear joy and gladness. Restoring unto you the joy of salvation, upholding you, a free spirit: bringing forth his people with joy and his chosen with gladness.

Therefore with joy draw water out of the wells of salvation. Redeemed of the LORD return, and come to Zion with song and everlasting joy upon your head: obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. Receive of the LORD beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, you trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together; for I will turn your mourning into joy, and will comfort you, and make you rejoice from your sorrow. And this shall be to me a name of joy, praise and an honor before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto you.

And they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto you. The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD, his mercy is for ever. Of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD, I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, says the LORD. Your testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.

I go unto the altar of God, unto God, my exceeding joy: O God my God let the righteous be glad; let us rejoice before you, and let us exceedingly rejoice. LORD God you have blessed this house, and all that is unto it, because of the ark of God. We your people do eat and drink before the LORD on this day with great gladness; wisdom is made king and anointed unto the LORD the chief governor and priest. You have put gladness in my heart, more than in the time when corn and wine was increased. You have turned for me my mourning into dancing: you have put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; to the end that glory may sing praise to you, and not be silent.

O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto you for ever. With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought forth: they shall enter into the king's palace. Make me to hear joy and gladness that the bones broken may rejoice. Let light be sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart, that I may see the good of your chosen, rejoice in the gladness of your nation, and glory with your inheritance.

The hope of the righteous is gladness, therefore LORD comfort Zion: comfort all her waste places; and make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD: Joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

O LORD, save your people, the remnant of Israel. You have shown me the path of life, in your presence is the fullness of joy and at your right hand pleasures forever more. And whatsoever mine eyes desires keep not from them, withhold not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoices in all my labor: and this is my portion of all my labor. Amen.

God gives to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: and you shall not much remember the days of your life because God answers in the joy of your heart. Go your way, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart for God now accepts your works.

The meek also shall increase joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel. For you shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace. For your shame was double therefore in your land you shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be unto you. Hear the word of the LORD, Is not the meat restored before our eyes, joy and gladness returned to the house of our God? Because you serve the LORD God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, you shall serve no more in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all.

LORD God your words were found, and we did eat them; and your word is unto us the joy and rejoicing of our heart: for we are called by your name, O LORD God of hosts.
